Topshop Make-Up

The time finally arrived & to be honest I'm surprised it didn't happen MUCH sooner. Now, I won't just be found racing to Topshop after work to nab that dress I saw online before it sells out (which it inevitably will) but on Saturday I found myself browsing through the make-up stand. YES, Topshop Make-up has launched.
I wasn't sure what to expect at first, were there going to be things from mascara to eye shadow and foundation?! or just nail polish and the odd eye shadow. So the selection was pretty good to be fair, with around 30 different shades of nail polish I felt like the stand was glowing, you know like on films when the open the treasure chest and the gold is just gleaming on their faces? that was me. I was immediately drew to 'parma violet' and 'gone fishing'. As a religious buyer of Barry M I already had a shade similar to the minty 'gone fishing' so parma violet it was. I was like a woman posessed! I didn't even need it. I just wanted it, because it was new. At £5 I would say that was a decent price with Barry M coming in at £2.95 it is slightly more expensive then my regular brand but with the diverse rang of colours the odd pot is worth it! The prices of everything else was average too! There's nothing really about the mascara that stood out to make me want to deviate from my regular brand but the selection of eye shadow was plentiful. With circular containers each with two different shades in and 6 different colour combination available, it's easy to justify the mere £6 price tag. The only other thing that stood out was the shades of the blush. It took me so long to find a shade of pink which didn't make me look like a clown but enhanced the natural pink my cheeks already had, I ended up buying it in Milan! Topshop's £6 'Blush in a Flush' will definitely be my next blusher buy when my swish Milano blush runs out. The rest of things Topshop Make-up had to offer included skin glow, skin tint, lipstick, lip glaze, lip gloss, lip polish, eye liner, eye crayon, eye kohl and eye glitter. Now to see how well my new Topshop nail polish compares to my trusty Barry M one!
Full review will be posted as soon as possible.

Clogs? fashion forward or just absurd.

So, since Clogs hit the Chanel and Louis Vuitton runway earlier they've descended upon the high street from Primark to Topshop. You can nab a Primark pair for around £12 and closed toe clogs from Topshop about £70. It seems steep for something for this seasons 'it' shoe but it's just a fraction Chanel's £700 price tag. Alexa Chung rocked the clogs earlier this year at Paris fashion week and also on the March cover or Vogue. This showed the clogs versatility from with a dress to with a suit.

I recently hit the high street in a bid to find some clogs for myself to see if they are all they're cracked up to be. The first thing I noticed which was deceiving from the images I'd seen was the size of the heel! it wasn't just high it was sky scraping! I'm 5"7 and the pair I tried on must have taken me to at least 6 foot. The next problem came with the tights I was wearing. If I planned to walk in these and not drag my feet accross the floor in the most unsexy manner possible (other shoppers sneering!) is to go bare foot. With no natural stick you'll be slipping and sliding in these every step. So, so far I'd gathered I couldn't walk in the shoes without causing myself an injury but I still found myself staring at them and scanning my wardrobe for what I could pair them with. After a long and embarrassing 15 minutes weighing up the clogs and trying to walk in them I decided they just weren't for me. Ordinary heels with no back would prove me a problem but these were just ridiculous! As I left the store I saw myself looking back at them sitting on the shelf and longed to be one of those hipsters that could wear them with ease with my mini dress and ultra long tanned legs, but who do I think I am, Alexa Chung? My verdict, yes the 'it' shoe for 2010 & if you survive the walk out the store then bravo to you, for me? more I can't walk in 'it'. Although I bet i'll still be looking for a suitable pair.

My birthday outfit.

Okay, so despite just having a whinge about Topshop on lookbook I found a gorgeous tunic online that is definitely on my 'wishlist'. It's my birthday on the 23rd so I hope to get it before then so I can saunter around town feeling like i'm on the catwalk in Milan! They only question now is which would suit my complexion better, the peach or the light blue. I'm fairly pale with almost black hair. Here's both tunics... Thanks for reading! X

Runway Runaway

I had a blog about a year ago but never used it. As I'm turning 19 next week I thought it was about time I got motivated and linked this up to my lookbook and stopped neglecting both! I currently live in Manchester taking a year out from studying but i'm due to start studying again in September. I was lucky enough to visit Milan this year but didn't quite make it to Paris, yet. I hope to visit the five fashion capitals before I'm 23 and eventually want to work within fashion & journalism or advertising.
